Mashelem
She threw the baby out with the birth water
when its eyes began to blur
Then took a child inside the shelter and left the mum to tooth and fur
She soothed the lost one and took the path
so they were reconciled
Then gathered the gifts from all the offers
for someone elses child
She nursed the child that grew the tree
and watched them chop them down
Then sang the pigs to come dance a jig
and firm the acorns in the ground
Mashelem
Mashelem
Not what
Not when
Mashelem
Mashelem
Just now
Just then.
